For four decades now, this museum has been one of the most important cultural heritage sites in the city of Rijeka. In addition to its valuable permanent exhibition and many valuable exhibitions, the Maritime and Historical Museum of the Croatian Littoral in Rijeka can be commemorated by marking various important events related to the history and culture of Rijeka, the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the whole of Croatia. In this way, the museum reveals and presents to the public interesting pieces of an unfamiliar past.
With many researches and discoveries of new material (archeological, ethnographic, artistic, cultural-historical and maritime-historical features), the museum is worth keeping a collection of inventions dating back to prehistoric times up to modern times. The expert staff of the museum best processes, systematizes and presents the role and development of all kinds of social beings in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, the Croatian Littoral and the city of Rijeka. this paper presents the development of the City in relation to other European environments over a thousand year period. The interdisciplinary approach offers the museum an insight, understanding and understanding of the character of this area and the people who live on it.
